Roll Up The Cosmos - Giant Katamari Hack - YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch...
"The goal: create the world’s biggest and best Katamari controller ever, and show it off at the London Fringe Festival’s Nuit Blanche. Katamari Damacy was released by Namco in 2004. It has since gone on to be a bit of a sleeper hit, spawning 7 sequels and a small but devoted following. I’m one of those devoted. Why do I love it? The quirky but catchy music, simple controls, great character design and oddball humour all combine to make a truly joyful game that I never tire of. Sometimes described as a snowball simulator, the game involves rolling around a magical ball called a Katamari, collecting bigger and bigger objects. I knew I wanted to do something related to the game for Nuit Blanche, and after discovering videos by Eric Gradman and Kellbot, I was convinced I could make it happen. I needed help, though, and luckily I found two great guys who had the technical know-ho to make the vision a reality. Ron LeBlanc is might be somewhat familiar to friends of the store as the guy who built the awesome Ubercade. Tom was a friend of a friend, and his willingness to jump into a crazy project at the last minute really saved the day." - Harold

As was the case with ThunderCats, there was also a SilverHawks comic book series published by then-Marvel Comics imprint Star Comics." - Harold

The Last Starfighter (1984) - http://www.imdb.com/title...
"The Last Starfighter is a 1984 science fiction adventure film directed by Nick Castle. The film tells the story of Alex Rogan (Lance Guest), an average teenage boy recruited by an alien defense force to fight in an interstellar war. It also featured Dan O'Herlihy, Catherine Mary Stewart, Robert Preston, Norman Snow and Kay E. Kuter. The Last Starfighter, in addition to Disney's Tron, has the distinction of being one of cinema's earliest films to use extensive computer-generated imagery (CGI) to depict its many starships, environments and battle scenes. The Last Starfighter was Preston's final film role. His character, a "lovable con-man", was a nod to his most famous role as Harold Hill in The Music Man.[2] There was a subsequent novelization of the film by Alan Dean Foster, as well as a video game based on the production. In 2004, it was also adapted as an off-Broadway musical." - Harold
Good memories of this movie. I remember a lot of computer magazines talking up the use of the Cray X-MP for rendering at the time. I also got a pirate copy of the movie on VHS which was watched a lot. Saw the film again only recently; still entertaining to me even if my wife wasn't very impressed. - Mark H

The Most Important Scenes from Man of Steel (As I Remember Them) - Rob Bricken - http://io9.com/the-mos...
"The Most Important Scenes from Man of Steel (As I Remember Them) While Man of Steel has been a box office success, its interpretation of Superman has divided some critics and fans. In hopes of bridging this gap, I have decided write down Man of Steel’s most important scenes for further discussion. (Warning: My memory may be a tiny bit off, but I’m pretty sure this is how things went down.)" - Harold

Hoosier honeybees essential for future of food | Environment | NUVO News | Indianapolis, IN - http://www.nuvo.net/indiana...
"Our bees are pulling a disappearing act. The question scientists, beekeepers, even the United Nations are trying to answer is why. Our planet is in the midst of a global bee crisis. Between 2006 and 2007, 32 percent of America's honeybees died, according to a survey by Apiary Inspectors of America and the US Department of Agriculture. The next winter, 36 percent, more than 1 million hives, disappeared. Honeybees across the world are perishing quickly and without warning. The suspected culprit? Beekeepers say it's the pesticides, specifically neonicotinoids, that coat our farmlands." - Harold

Solar farm grows near Indianapolis airport - 13 WTHR Indianapolis - http://www.wthr.com/story...
"Sixty acres on the city's southwest side are catching the eyes of a lot of people driving by and flying into the Indianapolis International Airport. That's because the farm land is being transformed into a solar farm. For years it's been a buffer zone. Farmland the airport could not develop under FAA rules. But almost overnight, what's taken root is pretty unusual." - Harold
"What is seen now along I-70 represents about 40 percent of a $35 million solar farm. By September 41,000 solar panels will help the 10 megawatt AC development convert enough sun rays to produce energy for 1,200 homes. It's expected to cost IPL customers less than a dollar, but no city tax dollars are on the hook." - Harold
