I teach journalism at NYU, write the blog PressThink, direct NewAssignment.Net, and try to grok new media. I don't do lifecasting but mindcasting on Twitter.
It's reasonable for ER staff to assume that someone with fever, chills, headaches, vomiting, and diarrhea who was recently in West Africa might possibly have Ebola because it's on the differential and the cost of missing it is very high. It's not reasonable for the MSM to report every single case of fever, chills, headaches, vomiting, and diarrhea who was recently in West Africa because the odds of it actually being Ebola is not very good.
