Every time there is an awesome event in they sky we end up with cloudy weather. This time is no different.
Every single time. And I'm *always* sick or incapacitated in some way too, it seems. - Anika
My days and nights are flipped around again. I'm a night person, but I'd like to be more active during the day while I have the chance.
My cat is trying to eat my cheese.
My rabbit likes chicken. Animals are strange ,-) - Jess
@TaviGreiner Chemo is going well. I'm having few side effects. Glad to hear you made it through your own treatment!
@TaviGreiner I have lung cancer. This is a checkup scan to see how chemo is progressing.
From my CT scan. One of these things is not like the other.
Wow. - Rochelle
I'm dense, what are we looking for here? - Eric - Final Countdown
having some shortness of breath? i'm not a radiologist, but is that a pneumothorax in your right lung? - Imabug
Imabug, there's a little bit of fluid in there. Part of the pleura is covered with about 1 cm of cancer. I'm not too sure what I'm looking in the image, but the right lung sure looks unhappy to me! - Michael McKean
I guess it's time to get a new pair of glasses now that I have the means.
CT scan tomorrow, bone scan on Tuesday.
Good luck with both! - LB ❤s FF, esp. YOU
Sending good thoughts, Michael! - Ayşe E.
Mercury's Mysterious Bright Spot Photographed Up Close - http://www.space.com/science...
"During its most recent flyby of Mercury, NASA's MESSENGER spacecraft caught another glimpse of the innermost planet's mysterious bright spot." - Michael McKean
I think I forgot to turn off the lights last time I visited, my bad. - Mike Nencetti
That's gonna be one insane electric bill! - Michael McKean
Herschel Sees Hidden Stars in the Southern Cross - http://www.universetoday.com/2009...
"Science observations have begun in earnest for the Herschel Space Telescope, and this spectacular image is the first produced by combining data from two cameras aboard Herschel, the Spectral and Photometric Imaging REceiver (SPIRE), and the Photoconductor Array Camera and Spectrometer (PACS). It shows a tumultuous region in the Southern Cross, visible only because the instruments are tuned to "see" in five different infrared wavelengths. Stunning vistas of cold gas clouds lying near the plane of the Milky Way reveal intense, unexpected activity. The dark, cool region is dotted with stellar factories, like pearls on a cosmic string." - Michael McKean

My back pain seems to be getting much better. I only took one Vicodin today just an hour or two ago and I probably could have gone without.
@cinnabarr Thank you!!! :)
Had chemo today. I was there for about 7 hours. Hopefully the side-effects will still continue to be mild. Next treatment in 3 weeks.
Feel better Michael. - Andrew David
I just spent a few moments looking for my glasses before realizing I was already wearing them.
It may sound crazy, but I'm glad to be getting back to chemo tomorrow.
@vargh3se Or it's just part of the plot to further the conspiracy!
Space radiation hits record high - http://www.newscientist.com/article...
"Like a wounded Starship Enterprise, our solar system's natural shields are faltering, letting in a flood of cosmic rays. The sun's recent listlessness is resulting in record-high radiation levels that pose a hazard to both human and robotic space missions." - Michael McKean
LRO Takes Second, Closer Look at Apollo 11 Landing Site | Universe Today - http://www.universetoday.com/2009...
"The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera has taken a second look at the Apollo 11 landing site. And since LRO is now in its science orbit of 50 km (31 miles) above the Moon, and closer when it took previous images, the new images provide more detail and a whole new look at this historic site. This time the Sun was 28 degrees higher in the sky, making for smaller shadows and bringing out subtle brightness differences on the surface. The look and feel of the site has changed dramatically. See below for a close-up view." - Michael McKean
More faked data to support the bogus moon landing myth. - Ray Cromwell
My chemo has been on hold long enough that my hair is growing back. My facial hair is coming in blond. Weird.
I think side effects are built into medications on purpose to make you buy more pills to relieve them.
I agree. I'm wary when one medication to relieve side effects is made by the same manufacturer that made the medication that gave you the side effects. Extra icky bonus points if the pharma company gives the prescribing doctor kickbacks or s/he sits on their board. - Anika
i cheat by just enduring the side-effects. who knew that grapefruit could cause a potentially fatal reaction while taking a certain heart med? bring it on, pharmatards! - Big Joe Silenced

Space Clown to Lighten Mood In Orbit - http://www.space.com/mission...
"Former circus performer Guy Laliberte, the founder of Cirque du Soleil, expects to have some fun when he launches to space Wednesday, but also has serious side to his self-proclaimed "poetic social mission." - Michael McKean

In space no one can hear you scream. - m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
It's 5 am. Woke up early. There used to be a time when I'd still be partying at 5 am. To be honest, I don't miss those days.
Prototype developed to detect dark matter - http://www.physorg.com/news173...
"A team of researchers from the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR, Spain) and the Institut d'Astrophysique Spatiale (IAS, in France) has developed a "scintillating bolometer", a device that the scientists will use in efforts to detect the dark matter of the Universe, and which has been tested at the Canfranc Underground Laboratory in Huesca, Spain." - Michael McKean
Why don't they just try brighter lights first? - Andrew C (✔)
"Scintillating bolometer"? Sounds dirty. - Kevin L

Very High Energy Gamma Rays - http://www.physorg.com/news173...
"Gamma-rays are the most energetic known form of electromagnetic radiation, with each gamma ray being at least one hundred thousand times more energetic than an optical light photon. The most potent gamma rays, the so-called VHE (very high energy) gamma rays, pack energies a billion times this, or even more. Astronomers think that VHE gamma rays are produced in the environment of the winds or jets of the compact, ultra-dense remnant ashes of massive stars left behind from supernova explosions." - Michael McKean
High... High... Pure energy, pure energy! - RAPatton
I wanna drive the Zamboni.
I'll start getting chemo again next Thursday. Things are starting to get back to "normal".

"NASA's Mercury Surface, Space Environment, Geochemistry, and Ranging spacecraft known as MESSENGER will fly by Mercury for the third and final time on Sept. 29. The spacecraft will pass less than 142 miles above the planet's rocky surface for a final gravity assist that will enable it to enter Mercury's orbit in 2011." - Michael McKean
