Does a disussion about SL increase SL use more if it's held here, on SLUniverse, in Facebook, Second Citizen, that new Q&S site Quora.com, or what?

Linden Lab is turning off the voting on the jira they use for Second Life at http://jira.secondlife.com. I'm wondering if this is standard practice. What percentage of such systems are run without voting enabled? What percentage have the voting enabled but the voting is actually ignored?

If you assume that there is a great depression that is going to get much worse for a long time before it gets better, what implications does that have for your actions?
Search engines, enabling you find all the information there is, so long as you don't want to use capitalization and punctuation in the process. Why, that's always what I do with anything written in English I want to understand, eliminate the case and delete the punctuation.
Flashing, pulsating, undulating, throbbing, vibrating, sliding, gyrating, fading in, fading out, bouncing, spinning, and the like all have their place in the world. An interface that I'm going to use is not that place.
for the 0.1% of people who would know how to use it?

"for the 0.1% of people who would know how to use it? " - YES. Everything that's doable is only doable for those who know how to do it. Paint, brushes and canvas only turn into art in the hands of a tiny, skilled subset of people. Would you remove surgical tools because most people aren't surgeons?

It is possible to write a UI to provide the power of a regular expression search that is usable by a lot greater than .1 percent of internet users.

I've been a libertarian for decades, but I've never liked the "Don't Tread On Me" flag with the rattlesnake. "Let's not tread on each other" would suit me better, or "Let's get out of each other's way, so we can all get where we want to go."
I think the sentiment behind it is anti-tyranny.

To me, it evokes a loner who threatens to kill anyone who comes too close. Rather than making me think about liberty, it makes me think about hostility and death.

I suppose the complainer doesn't want to join the conversation in friendfeed. There's a setting in friendfeed Twitter publishing preferences for whether to put a link to the source or to the friendfeed post. However in most cases I don't have a link in my friendfeed posts, I'm writing my own material, such as it is. The link takes up a good bit of valuable characters in a tweet. I'm surprised having a link is mandatory.

Why would people use Twitter instead of friendfeed? Twitter is like making phone calls where you can't select who you are calling and can't tell if they answered the phone.

if Friendfeed is dead, how come it's still putting our supposedly non-existent posts in Twatter?
- Big Joe Silenced
If your Friendfeed name can only be 25 characters long, why not limit the space for entering names to 25 characters, or provide some kind of visual marker or character count, rather than letting you enter names that are too long, then rejecting them, along with other changes you made during that profile edit session?
Real FriendFeeders know about the limit and count the characters :P

Handy Tip: write your prospective new name as if it was a post; check the "Send it to Twitter" box, and you'll get a character count.

Note to printer manufacturers: A regular small sheet size printer that uses the same ink and print settings as a wide format printer might be a popular seller.
