Are there beds that have two parts, the lower one being a bunch of springs, and the upper one being filled with soft stuffing, as oppose to a different kind that has a lower part that is a box, and an upper part that is springs covered with some foam ?

My memory tells me that when I was young the lower part of a two part mattress was springs, and the upper part was padding, but all the ones I've seen for decades have a lower part that's a wood box with some masonite on it, and the upper part has the springs and a depressingly thin section of padding both contained in the upper part. I'm wondering if my memory of the old kind is a false memory. - Sue - Friendfeed is best
Cristo's link goes to what appears to be a one-piece with springs and padding both in one piece, but as tall as a two piece. At least that's how it look to me. - Sue - Friendfeed is best
You say "a box spring bottom piece" - does that have springs in it, or is it just a box? - Sue - Friendfeed is best
