As a spin-oFF from another post, who here goes by their middle name primarily? My parents always called me by my middle name, "Alan", and never by my first name. They were never sure how that got started. :)

Adam does. His first name is Paul but like you, his parents never called him that. He's always gone by his middle name, Adam.

I do. Full name: Todd Brent Schaus. I grew up going by "Todd", but started going by my middle name as a sign of a fresh start. My grandfather was known as C. Roy Tilley. Precedent.

I do. I have the same first name as my mom's. If I'd been a boy, I would've shared my dad's first name. I once found my mom's diary from before I was born, and she refers to me by both my boy and girl middle names. So I guess I was always meant to go by my middle name.

my oldest brother is an Allan who goes by his middle name. His first name was the same as our dad's, so brother became Allan.

I do. I'm having such trouble with inflexibility on the part of bureaucracies who buy CRAPPY software and then do what the software tells them that I'm thinking I'm going to have to pay to get my name legally changed.
