Today - that sounds like Democrats more than Republicans. Most republicans today believe in small government, conservative values, rural economics, etc. Those were the ideologies and characteristics of people that fought AGAINST the Union, suffrage and civil rights. But that's more of a history issue and has nothing to do with Obama's supposed dictatorship. Obama does represent the executive branch of government.
