In a big parking lot. I have always had driving anxiety, so my first lesson was in an empty parking lot driving between lines and stopping and turning. Sometimes when I try to stop quick I hit the gas harder before braking (I know, that's what confused 80 year olds do) so that might be something to evaluate.
