I saw it again later, too. Yes, I'm proud of myself :D

I had never seen a raccoon anywhere except in the wild until I moved here. Now they're around and I've had to chase them out of my rubbish bins before. A few weeks ago, we saw a mother and two baby raccoons cavorting about our backyard. Fun stuff!
- Akiva
Aww! This one was on the fence and then later climbing a tree. It was probably looking for nests but the crows left a while ago after the fledgling fiasco.

At least in CA, raccoons are one of the formerly wild species that is best able to deal with humans. Add coyotes and possums to that list.
- Spidra Webster
I've seen lots of possums....but they were all roadkill o_O. I;ve heard coyotes and saw a pair while out driving one day.

Just be careful. Raccoons are EVIL. I've been chased by a gang of them and cornered.
- Anika
Yup. I am not a fan of raccoons.

Akiva: I hope you get some pics next time you see them!

Eek! Sounds nasty, Anika! I'm very much of the opinion that wildlife is just that - wild. I won't be getting near any if I can help it.

OMG - the hashtags ARE a riot!!!!! They hang out in our trash cans all the time, babies and all.
- Martha
WoH, I think we do have some... I'll have to dig them up.
- Akiva
Actually, it's precisely because they're no longer wild that they're scary. Kinda like what's happening to bears in some places. They've lost their natural fear of humans.

Last summer I sat in the mudroom and watched a raccoon try and figure how to get in the trash. He stood up and looked at me a couple times and I giggled. It was bad of me not to chase him off. >.< And I totally agree, best hashtags ever!
