Just this week, I gave a talk on career perspectives for physicists http://slidesha.re/DPG2012... , and I had checked whether you already had reported back about your tenure decision, in the hope of being able to point to that one example of someone who consciously chose to go for what makes sense rather than what tenure committees look for. In the discussion, after the talk, several people expressed concerns about the viability of the open science road, and while I was quite optimistic for the long run, my optimism was much more damped for the short run.
