While HTML5 is a great platform, it's still missing a lot of stuff. No camera access on mobile (outside of phonegap), no access to contacts, difficult to replicate even basic UIs (lack of position: fixed), etc, etc - Matt M (inactive)

This stuff is particularly fresh in my mind. We're branching out from iphone and android native apps for gri.pe to cover the "lesser" platforms - blackberry, webos, etc. I really want to do HTML5 across the board, but we just can't do it. Excited for the day when a native app "just works" across mobile platforms and feels like a great app. No more scrolling emulation to get fixed headers on iphone please. :) - Matt M (inactive)

@clive- none of those replicate the same experience as a native app for what we need at gri.pe. I just spent a few weeks looking at *everything* under the sun. Every framework has this "not quite native" feeling, often with flicker, jerky animations etc. - Matt M (inactive)

I use facebook touch vs. native about 50/50 on Android. I'd probably use it more if the mobile browsers had photo gallery access. I still find that the mobile browsers themselves have bugs that take away from even good web apps - Matt M (inactive)

Yeah, or the camera, etc. It's a tiny feature and probably only a few dozen lines of code to tie it together to the existing gallery/camera code, but it would enable a lot of mobile apps to use HTML5 (including ours!) - Matt M (inactive)
