The situation: The wall mount you bought doesn't attach firmly to the back of your TV because the screws they sent are too long and hit the end of the hole in the TV before they are tight. Also the head of the screw is so small it goes right through the intended hole in the bracket making it useless. Do you....
Return to Amazon and find a better wall mount OR go to the hardware store and find better screws even though you are questioning the quality of the wall mount in general?

Which ever is easier....

Well, screws from the hardware store would be easier, quicker, and cheaper. A new mount from Amazon would take longer and maybe even cost more, but it could possibly save your TV from falling off the wall if the current mount is as shanty as it looks and it falls apart.

If the wall mount looks crappy, return it. Don't risk your TV on it!

Anne does have a point.

Returning it would probably be the best idea, but you could hang the TV today if you go the hardware store route. Think of how good it will look for that girl coming over later (Note: I don't think girls actually notice this, but guys still think it). You already have acknowledged the problem with the mount and have a possible solution. For mere pennies you can go to the store, buy some replacement screws and be on your way. The real issue however, is that the manufacturer lost your trust. Even though the manufacturer included three different type of screws and one of the thread sizes fit the back of your TV, they were too long. Beyond that, even if they were the right depth, the head of the screw is too small and slips through the bracket. How could someone possibly design this and include screws with too small of a head size?! So, Do you let 25c or less worth of incorrect parts stop you from trusting the rest of the mount? This is where I am stuck. Does the oversight in screw size on something like this spell out bad things to come?...Like a TV falling off the wall? Or is it just that, an oversight, that I can fix without wasting much time for a few pennies?
- Ross Miller
Return it. It's the responsible thing to do. And girls really don't notice.... ;)

My amazon wall mount was same issue. And I bought 3! I got new screws. But then ALSO decided to open one wall (the heaviest tv) and put metric tons of backing in. Then repair drywall repaint wall then hang tv. Sooooo returning it might've been quicker easier. But eh, that tv ain't going nowhere in a hurry.
