This is my first try uploading a pptx file. It links to a Google doc PDF that shows figures. Not sure if this will be useful or whether PNG would be better.

Won't open for me -- browser thinks the link "contains malicious code".

Changed it to be a figure. Prolly an area for feature upgrade: allow multiple files per "figure."

As it stands now, you can get the PPTX file (if browser allows) from the "view history" tab on the figure. But that's not obvious.

OK, I'll get to work on it, give me a few days :) I wonder whats setting off the malicious code? Did this actually embed the file for you?

For me, I got the "malicious code" warning too, but it looks like a standard warning for that file type, coming from MediaWiki. I was able to download the file just fine using Chrome and the PowerPoint to view.

A possible solution would be to encourage people to upload graphical figures (e.g. PNG) and have a box on the figure creation form that allows also optional uploading original figure file. (B) Or, if possible, could have a preview ability for PPTX and other files, based on Zoho or Google Docs? I have no idea if that is possible, but it was pretty slick the Zoho preview on the data set I uploaded!
