He names PayForPost as an example, but also notes the old payola scandal from 1950s radio and the modern Artist Airplay variant on Jango. There are a number of other examples, which extend to product placement on movies and TV, the height of the shelf on which your favorite grocery item can be found, the helpful carrying bags that you get at trade shows, and so forth.
