"Fortunately I'm not getting the irritation that I've normally gotten from metal objects on my wrists, so it seems they're right about the metal being safe. As for electrocution, the design of the pads suggest that anyway, being a part that is held in place by externally accessible screws; my thought is their entire purpose is support of the wristband or holding its shape.
