"R_______ clear to sue Native Americans -- for now" [MSNBC] - http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc...
From the November 1st article by Drew Katchan: "The long-simmering controversy over the Washington R_______ team name continued on Friday when a federal judge decided the NFL franchise could continue suing five Native Americans, according to the Associated Press. Yes, you read that right: For now, the R________ – whose name everyone from President Obama to Sen. John McCain call offensive – can move forward with a suit against a group of Native Americans who take umbrage with the term. The group, led by social worker Amanda Blackhorse, filed a petition back in 2006 against the name, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office responded this June, ruling that six R_______ trademark registrations should be canceled. Once the USPTO gave its ruling, the team went after the five individuals in court." - Stephen Mack

Some deeper coverage here: http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014... -- "It may seem like satire, but the Washington R______ football team has filed a lawsuit against the five Native Americans who got the U.S. patent office to declare their trademark as “disparaging to Native Americans.” The team insists that the name honors Native Americans and anyone who says differently — including actual Native Americans — is wrong." ... "In a lawsuit directed not at the patent office, but at the individuals who filed the original complaint, the team claims that the five Native American plaintiffs are hurting their brand by raising an objection to it. According to lawyers for the organization, the football team is the real victim in all of this, and the Native Americans complaining are just causing trouble." - Stephen Mack
