Need to share - nearly lost my little girl today...
Had a terrible experience on the way to school today. It was really icy underfoot as well as foggy. My 5 yr old was running ahead a little as she does and we were having a nice walk down our road. A black 4x4 came tanking around the corner onto our road, slipped on the ice and span all the way around ending up on the pavement just where she was. When we saw what was happening me and my other daughter were shouting at her and luckily she ran straight back to us and the car missed her. It was so horrible I was shaking and crying - yes in the middle of the pavement. The driver turned around and wound down the window to sort of sympathise and then drove off. It took me the rest of the walk to calm down. the little one was fine - I don;t think she really realised how lucky she was. Her older sister gave her a big hug and kiss at school though and I hope she'lll be ok at school. Wow. Don't want to go through that again! Is it too early for a brandy? - WoH: Professor MOTHRA

Oh my. Glad you shared it. It helps to get stuff like that off your chest. You are normal, trust me. I have had a couple of close calls with my kids too that still make me a little edgy. You will be fine. Just hug your little ones every day no matter what. - Josh Haley

Glad your little one is fine. Remember that by shouting your warnings, you were succesful in protecting her. Not saying you should shout more often, but to focus on the fact that you were not helpless, no matter how you feel. You and your daughters didn't freeze, you ACTED, and you can hug the proof. - MiniMage

Thanks again, all. Yes, I was glad we were able to call her back (just for clarification we were on the pavement=sidewalk, not on the road). I had nothing to say to the driver because I was too shocked to do anything other than sob and hold her. That's a real shocker because I am not usually an hysterical sort of person - shows what extreme terror will do to you! Anyway we are all well and that's the main thing. - WoH: Professor MOTHRA
