Re: Scripting News: Google's SUL - http://scripting.com/stories...
"I'm going to post this to my own ACCT tomorrow, but wanted to get it up here first: Imagine you have a group of influential people who, representing their companies, are all on Twitter. They all work hard, all contribute immensely to their field and they all compete against each other in the same business. In terms of their success, they are all neck and neck because they all share the same space and are all so good. Then one day, Twitter has one single guy who comes along and points to one and puts that lucky person on a new suggested user list. Boom. That guy suddenly wins out over the others but not by merit. Now they get more attention, more ad partners, more money, more business. They didn't work for or earn the reach based on value, they just got lucky because someone from Twitter pointed. In so doing, Twitter destroys the natural ecosystem. The rest are losers because the winner gets a boost that is impossible for the others to compete with. The others simply have less overall..." - Andrew Baron
