You see the same dynamic in the popular press. People complain about clickbait, but respected newspapers are getting more and more into clickbait from watching the success of things like Buzzfeed and Upworthy. So we have to bring about change from within. As long as the belief that you have to publish in C/N/S to get grants exists, people will still compete to publish in C/N/S.
