We are having technical difficulties.
- Robert Scoble
Usually by this time they've at least started to wrestle with the false starts, Laura

What a shock
- Francine Hardaway
We aren't getting a picture.
- Robert Scoble
Why not just use Spreecast and call it a day?

It's always 1 pm-ish PT but that's OK.

- Alex de Soto
Google hangout:)
- clive boulton
Friendfeed may be all we have today: pathos
- Francine Hardaway
yeah, why not a Hangout on Air?
- Francine Hardaway
Francine, I was just typing that! They work pretty good.
- Laura Norvig
I was thinking about a Hangout on Air too.
- Robert Scoble
But I doubt if Steve has a G+ account ...
- Laura Norvig
So what's the score of the #UEFA Germany - Greece match? The illusion of the Euro may depend on it.
- John Taschek
Laura: Flipboard and Google+, Microsoft's new Surface, Apple wrapup of WWDC. Google IO preview.
- Robert Scoble
Everyone on earth has a G+account
- Francine Hardaway
John: 3-1.
- Robert Scoble
Must be Greece. Paul Papadimitriou is pretty happy
- Francine Hardaway
hangout won't allow for Tina's contributions
- Jerome Hughes
Tina can go on the show
- Francine Hardaway
Nice - thanks, Robert - Sounds like the 2nd half scoring reflects the 1st half playing
- John Taschek
Jerome: actually that's not true. Tina can click on the right window and decide who gets displayed.
- Robert Scoble
Its all over for Greece. Italy or England in the Semi.
- Keith Teare

- Jerome Hughes

A British Company called Binz Intelligent Eyeware, is also developing a type of Google Glass
- Moe Glitz
Hey Tina. I am still in London
- Francine Hardaway
Love London. have a blast Francine. How's the baby?
- Tina Chase Gillmor
metro only
- Jerome Hughes
We need to see it in action, plus what's the battery like?
- Moe Glitz
Re: spotify/pandora/entitlement to free music ... http://thetrichordist.wordpress.com/2012...
- Laura Norvig
a buddy has a playbook
- Jerome Hughes
I thought that MS was releasing two products?? Microsoft Surface = ARM + Metro only // Microsoft Surface Pro = Intel + Metro + Legacy apps
- Ankush Narula
Microsoft should build magnetic keyboard covers for the iPad. ;)
- Alex de Soto
I also heard the price was set at $599 and it was wifi only
- Francine Hardaway
The Shared Core sounds interesting
- Moe Glitz
see Danny's posts on Metro etc.
- Jerome Hughes
dont think that's a fact yet Francine
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Baby is 3 1/2 Tina and flys kites in the park. He's a British kid who also speaks French. He must think I am odd
- Francine Hardaway
http://news.cnet.com/8301-33... <- Danny
- Jerome Hughes
how fabulous Francine. Can't believe he's 3.5.
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Microsoft appears to be subsidizing everything they're releasing
- Francine Hardaway
Msft folks feel Xbox360 was first successful end-to-end hardware
- clive boulton
seems credible?
- Jerome Hughes
cliveb: and Xbox cost Microsoft many billions before it started working as a business. How serious is Steve Ballmer about this? The price will tell us all.
- Robert Scoble
The problem is that Microsoft lacks the courage and conviction to abandon Windows altogether - Metro should have been a completely separate platform from Windows. Windows should have become relegated to it's own legacy path. Hence, instead of releasing a single device "Microsoft Surface for Windows RT" ($599), we also get "Microsoft Surface for Windows 8 Pro" ($999).
- Ankush Narula
I thought Tablets were Post PC. But not in the eyes of Microsoft
- Moe Glitz
How are consumers going to understand this?
- Ankush Narula
Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro, Windows RT, Windows Phone 8 - talk about beating a brand to death
- Ankush Narula
quietly Microsoft appears to be retooling around open source interop
- clive boulton
have talked with old IT guys (read checkwriters) who find it inspired and compelling, though they're really only looking at concept, not execution
- Jerome Hughes
Isn't it too late? Even folks who use Windows for desktop and laptop have already bought an iPad if they wanted a cool tablet.
- Laura Norvig
Windows RT compatability - http://www.theinquirer.net/inquire...
- Keith Teare
I think it may be the last chance Office has!
- Alex de Soto
Redmond product teams have gained program managers tasked with open source interop
- clive boulton
What's a "disc"?
- Ankush Narula
plenty of those same old IT guys have been flipping to iPad
- Jerome Hughes
and that's what keeps many from moving to Mac, they feel tied to their software investments on Windows
- Jerome Hughes
is Office actually actively dyeing?
- Tina Chase Gillmor
that's why it's gutsy, though it's an announce that didn't deliver enough of the story
- Jerome Hughes
Windows Metro 8 RT
- Ankush Narula
or is it Windows 8 RT Metro
- Ankush Narula
the laptop you can't use on your lap
- Jerome Hughes
MSFT is all in on the new canonical client / server: JavaScript / Nodejs - App / Internet
- clive boulton
the accumulated insight on this show always amazes me.
- Tina Chase Gillmor
clive - msft embracing node.js = cautious skepticism
- Ankush Narula
They just brought Yammer
- Moe Glitz
If MSFT had included some Kinect-like input magic with Surface, that would have been something!
- Alex de Soto
it's a big boat to turn
- Jerome Hughes
I think Microsoft's core DNA mutated from engineering/people to up-selling and licensing long ago
- Ankush Narula
M$ gets their groove on?
- Jerome Hughes
By displaying the Surface as a smart mobile book, they seem to be aiming towards the business crowd
- Moe Glitz
Ankush Narula - the horses mouth https://github.com/windows... and http://twtpoll.com/1h5q1h
- clive boulton
clive - that's very cool - but having been burned by the embrace and extend and lock-in of MSFT past - they have much trust to earn back
- Ankush Narula
@verge: Google rumored to be launching business-focused cloud computing service at I / O http://t.co/SHavwQME
- Moe Glitz
and how can they squeal about being copied?
- Jerome Hughes
sorry Robert. missed that
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Keith: App Store approval process will quickly dampen that notion
- Ankush Narula
Pottermore (uses Nodejs on Azure) Harry Potter site built on Windows Azure platform http://www.ditii.com/2012...
- clive boulton
wondered when buddy would come up (and wasn't thinking about it when posted about my friend's playbook)
- Jerome Hughes
So is iCloud: http://venturebeat.com/2011...
- Ankush Narula
losing sooner better? disrupting yourselves now so others can't later?
- Jerome Hughes
Windows = Microsoft Office
- Laura Norvig
For most young people, Microsoft means Xbox and Kinnect
- Moe Glitz
Steve agreeing with Scoble wholeheartedly. hmm
- Tina Chase Gillmor
list over tiles
- Jerome Hughes
Metro *IS* stateful push notification (watch the Windows Phone 8 presentation)
- Ankush Narula
how well have colored folders supplanted manila?
- Jerome Hughes
I find I dont want to be AT my desktop
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Im getting increasingly frustrated with non-full ipad apps that dont do everything
- Tina Chase Gillmor
butter smooth scrolling vs flipping… reminds of iTunes album cover screen saver… look over here, now, and now over here
- Jerome Hughes
i want my ipad to be my everything
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Jerome... did you get the button finally?
- Tina Chase Gillmor
yes, thanks! & believe that's what MS was after with the IT types, making them believe their whole world could be this Intel Surface
- Jerome Hughes
Metro lets you pin Person tiles to the start screen - then you can see notifications for people you care about. In theory, you could pin an @mention filter on the Metro start screen. And you could probably pin all kinds of custom tiles (think notification filters).
- Ankush Narula
Moe - yes, microsoft is meaningless to young people as far as the computer world
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Tina - the holy grail is App collections (Cloud glues together - Client does not)
- clive boulton
as Steve strokes his beard
- Tina Chase Gillmor
reality is for people who can't handle drugs
- Laura Norvig
oops, did I say that out loud?
- Laura Norvig
robert, have you ever considered a rearview mirror?
- Jerome Hughes
Xbox is pretty popular with the young set
- Da
Laura lol
- Tina Chase Gillmor
I'd prefer the Push Notifications list in iOS to be subject/object-centric rather than app-centric
- Ankush Narula
filter, filter and customize
- Tina Chase Gillmor
I guess the new version of that is, "reality is for people who can't handle the virtual world."
- Laura Norvig
Tie that frick up Windows
- Da
fine-tune push
- Tina Chase Gillmor
lo tech predecessor to gGlasses… http://ow.ly/bLQ1M
- Jerome Hughes
A whole lot of young folks do their facebooking on a Windows machine
- Da
hangout may not have handled that very well… bless you
- Jerome Hughes
didn't mean to catch Steve's sneeze... sorry about that folks
- Tina Chase Gillmor
Ankush Narula - subject/object-centric push, exactly how to combine streams on the client side (independent of apps)
- clive boulton
a new world where my photos belong to Facebook? No thanks.
- Laura Norvig
Laura: absolutely. My photos are better on Facebook because of the social connections and sharing features. All other systems suck in comparison.
- Robert Scoble
and real capabilities vs. hand waving
- Jerome Hughes
my daughter loves instagram
- Tina Chase Gillmor
compared to what will happen otherwise
- Jerome Hughes
But just for fun Google+ has my photos too.
- Robert Scoble
So does TUmblr.
- Robert Scoble
I never an built an app for Windows Phone, because M$ never gave me a Phone.
- clive boulton
So does Apple.
- Robert Scoble
So does Yahoo.
- Robert Scoble
@cliveb: if Microsoft Surface was $100 it would be nearly free.
- Robert Scoble
$99
- Jerome Hughes
I can do $100
- clive boulton
but it's rumored at $599, which is more like MS (plus free stickers and bloatware)
- Jerome Hughes
much stuff can be done on mobile web these days. Apps got gunk that goes with them that slows down the phone
- Da
or hecka drains battery
- Da
when it crashed
- Jerome Hughes
Google gave me a phone, chromebook, tablet. M$ gave me Windows (bootcamp installed. I never use nowadays)
- clive boulton

- Robert Scoble
