Yep, I agree with this http://gizmodo.com/the-xbo... Microsoft tried to do something new and people got stuck in the old paradigm, complained about what Microsoft was trying to do and Microsoft has caved making the system less functional.
Perhaps this is just yet another case of Microsoft committing a marketing blunder? - Scoble, Alex Scoble
the old paradigm was better than the new one. - Big Joe Silenced
So, kind of like what happened with Windows 8? - Victor Ganata
If it's true that you could've sold your digitally downloaded games, I'm not really sure that the old paradigm was necessarily better. The old paradigm still has copy protection/DRM. I guess the old paradigm is definitely better for retail stores that sell used games, but for the user? - Victor Ganata
my statement wasn't 100% serious. - Big Joe Silenced
Yeah, Victor, I agree that the current paradigm isn't better at all. People got stuck on maybe not being able to resell games and didn't grok the friends list thing, which I think would have been huge. - Scoble, Alex Scoble
It's up to the publishers. Like when you get games from the humble bundle, you can redownload a drm-free copy of the game any time you want. - Rodfather
That article is nothing but wishful fantasy. There has been no information that games would have been cheaper on the Xbox One. There is no information on how you can sell your games your way. So, take away the ability to sell used disc games for the ability to sell used digital games that the publishers/Microsoft can dip into as well as being able to control what price you can sell your game at. Sounds good to me. Also, I bet Microsoft didn't have to remove "sell your old digital games" or remove the "family" share plans when they backpedaled. They got the thrashing they deserved and instead of saying "I'm sorry, let's fix this," they instead go "Well, we heard you. Here's the shit you wanted, but we're taking these other things away because of your whining." - Arlan K.
Maybe they introduced their original policies incorrectly, but all I got was the fact they were changing the business to increase their bottom line and not in the best interest of the gamer. It was all about them having control. - Arlan K.
Aside from all the wishful thinking, though, if they're taking away the interchangeability of physical media and downloaded games because of the whining, I think that truly sucks. - Victor Ganata
That's the impression that I got, but maybe they really can't do those features with the changes they're implementing. What I don't get is, why couldn't they keep the current system (which just works with physical media) and tack on digital reselling and loaning? I still wouldn't like the fact that MS and/or Publishers could have the means to control resell price or access, but them's the breaks. And that 24 hour check-in is pretty crap when the entire world, much less 100% of America, don't have decent connectivity. - Arlan K.
