My guess is that, in their eyes, blink kicked out Tom prematurely and then talked badly about him in the press. From everything that Tom said it sounds like he wanted his cake and to eat it too; he wanted to be able to whatever he wanted with AVA and have blink-182 wait around until it fit into his schedule..which could have been never. I wonder if Tom ever thought they'd kick him out of blink. He's probably pretty upset about it.
