Tech reporters tend to act like they think technology adoption is a zero sum game. In their world every new thing must kill something else. The real world doesn't work that way.
New stuff no matter how disruptive causes evolution of existing technology in a never ending cycle. Despite the gandiose pronouncements very little technology actually dies -- it just morphs slowly into something else.

The minute they say something is THE "xxx" killer, I stop reading. The "yyy" is dead articles are also no go for me. Lack of imagination.
