It would be one thing if he made a statement of "Look, I think black artists are consistently undervalued in the entertainment industry and I'm frustrated by this and we need to challenge the system harder" because that's the important thing to address. But to disrespect another artist in the process...especially one who has consistently made good albums for his 20+ year career and was in a tough category with other great albums, all of whom well-deserved their nomination...I find his attitude to be shitty and self-serving. You don't devalue someone's hard work because you're mad at something that person isn't even responsible for. He speaks as though what he values as artistry is the only thing that counts.
