Personal Energy Generator (PEG) by nPower - http://www.greennpower.com/persona...
"As you walk, the PEG harvests the kinetic energy that you’re already generating and converts it into usable power for recharging your handheld electronic devices." - Tom Stocky
This is pretty cool, though I wonder how much power it's able to harvest -- I couldn't find any specifics on the site ... - Tom Stocky

Hornussen - the sport of Swiss farmers - http://www.youtube.com/watch...
This is pretty crazy -- Hornussen is a popular sport in the countryside o German-speaking Switzerland. It's kind of a cross between baseball and golf. The batter hits the "hornet" (a kind of puck) with a long whip-type thing and then the fielders try to swat it down with paddles before it hits the ground. - Tom Stocky
Touring Gösgen nuclear power plant (1 of 5 in Switzerland). It produces 13% of the country's electricity: http://twitpic.com/zdaoy
Experiencing a nuclear power plant first-hand was very cool. Going inside the cooling tower was pretty intense, basically a 500-foot-tall steam room. - Tom Stocky

Pandora Discovered - http://www.youtube.com/watch...
While watching Avatar, you can feel the depth of Pandora. It's clear the creators spent a lot of time thinking about the details, and that richness comes through. Such a good movie. - Tom Stocky

Kids & the Marshmallow Test - http://www.youtube.com/watch...
This is another version of Walter Mischel's marshmallow experiment-- in the 1960s, a group of four-year olds were given a marshmallow and promised another, only if they could wait 20 minutes before eating the first one. The researchers then followed the progress of each child into adolescence and demonstrated that those with the ability to wait were better adjusted and more dependable (determined via surveys of their parents and teachers), and scored an average of 210 points higher on the Scholastic Aptitude Test. - Tom Stocky

Piano Stairs - "The Fun Theory" - http://www.youtube.com/watch...
"66% more people than normal chose the stairs over the escalator. Fun can obviously change behavior for the better." - Tom Stocky
This is awesome, but my afterthought is that the first time is fun, but everyday, it would no longer be novel, and people would go back to the escalator. If you tried to make every set of stairs fun, you'd get a sort of 'fun fatigue' effect as well. It works well in small doses, but there's an even cheaper and easier way to fix it if you really want to: remove the esclator, use elevators for disabled. :) - Ray Cromwell
