Been studying media this summer, and the economics of it and I think this is a big mistake for Twitter - Francine Hardaway
Facebook will be $9 / share. 70% of the stock is still out. - Chien-Yu Lin

Mobile users don't click on ads or want them - Francine Hardaway

Moe - we're investigating Peak Oil trends - John Taschek

Right Mo - Francine Hardaway
Why would Twitter become a media company when the economics of media aren't there right now? - Francine Hardaway
You guys are joking about peak oil - hopefully ... - Chien-Yu Lin
Mobile/Tablet as a controller to a web app that also runs on desktop/tv. - clive boulton
Uh oh...watch out for those cognitive psychologists! - Tom Guarriello
Regardless of media or channel, people still make decisions in the same way. - Chien-Yu Lin
Right, Taschek!!!!!!!! - Francine Hardaway
I am not using the Facebook camera app. Forgot about it really - Tina Chase Gillmor
yes - joking about peak oil! - John Taschek
Feels like Zuck took his eye off the ball. - clive boulton
I don't use the Facebook app, my LTE VZW Nexus loads the mobile web pretty well - Da
Facebook/Mobile: What happened to RS's consistent weekly line over the past 3 months of "Wall Street guys just don't realize that Zuck is going to switch on mobile at anytime!!!!" Come on RS... don't let the stock price affect your message. Stick to your guns or just say that you have changed your mind. Otherwise all this bashing just sounds like fair-weather monday morning quarterbacking. - Johnny C
Facebook has hit the Norvig limit. - Kevin Marks
scoble is gapping for me - Kevin Marks
shocked that there's no relevant ads on Facebook on my phone - Da
@Chien-Yu Lin Shorts are gonna drive FB down ridiculous - clive boulton

who's phone is ringing? - Kevin Marks
@CliveB - The stock price and the performance have nothing to do with one another right now. On November 14, 49% of all available shares - 1.33 billion (with a B) - will be available. This is just supply / demand. I like the cards FB is holding. I just don't like it until after Thanksgiving. Not worried about Bulls & Bears. Worried about being financially trampled to death by sheep. - Chien-Yu Lin
Kevin posits Facebook doesn't enuff data to push the Norvig limit? - clive boulton
ads only suck when they're not relevant to me - Da
There's an awful lot of sheep:) - clive boulton
The creatives and the media buyers don't get mobile yet - Francine Hardaway
Mobile is about smaller sized, opportunistic / impulse transactions. The largest purchase you will ever make over the phone is an airline ticket. - Chien-Yu Lin
pinterest mobile is intersting - Kevin Marks
Scoble's right. FB's got the demo info but Google's got the behavioral history - Tom Guarriello
Da: yeah, and many ads are aimed at making you relevant to the advertising. :-) - Robert Scoble
i'm driving to walmart to buy soap, but if target offers me a better deal since they know i'm on my way to walmart to buy soap, i'll make a u-turn the other way to buy it at target - Da
@ Hardaway - I think the creatives and media folks ignore how people make decisions. - Chien-Yu Lin
Millennials are unresponsive to ads - Francine Hardaway
Francine: that's what they say. But the clothes they wear sure look like ads to me. - Robert Scoble
I realised the nexus 7 will fit in my back pocket, so I can go out without a backpack for the laptop or iPad - Kevin Marks
No Steve. I dont - Francine Hardaway
+1 Scoble's Millennials observation. - Tom Guarriello
They don't have my shows - Francine Hardaway
Or 3/4G - Francine Hardaway
Google's got the entire chain: devices, OS, browser, search, maps, profiles. Google does not care that you like hiking, Sugarland or Waffle House. They just need to know you've just made three searches for dresses - and that's all they need to push to you relevant ads. - Chien-Yu Lin
5 inch Samsung Note is even more portable, with a big screen - Da
7" iPad fits in the center control console of each car and behind the headrest of each seat. - Chien-Yu Lin
yes, Da. Not available in the US yet - Kevin Marks
What about places w/out wifi? - Francine Hardaway
kevin - the form-factor of the nexus7 is the whole issue, isn't it - Tina Chase Gillmor
I thought it was all about opt-in advertising, and possibly Pinterest -style referral ads for mobile. ie. that said.. a colleague bought an ad for desktop and mobile and the mobile ads was getting 10X the hit rate. - Michael Roberts
well, tina, I found that I used the hi-res android phones a lot. this extends that affordance just enough, but fits in pocket or purse - Kevin Marks
In the Consumption Space Amazon wins, cause every Product Search generates a buy. No need for Advertising - Moe Glitz
Right Robert. - Francine Hardaway
@ Hardaway - Why do you think Millennials are not receptive to ads? - Chien-Yu Lin
I'm carrying around the ipad all the time but it is a bit too big. Smaller really would be better for me. - Tina Chase Gillmor
I don't have a Nexus either but Kevin and Steve's experience about the difference the size makes gives me pause. - Tom Guarriello
Moe: but amazon does advertise by having people put banners on their sites for buying books. - then I get cut of the sale. - Michael Roberts
I've seen people say the same thing about the Kindle Fire or Nook too - Kevin Marks
I don't carry my iPad everywhere, either. - Tom Guarriello
Professional rif-raf. I like that - Tina Chase Gillmor
Robert -- chances we can persuade Steve / Tina to host a GG at http://www.siliconvalley-codecamp.com/ (conf call?) - clive boulton
I find typing on my Nexus 7 in Portrait-mode being a much better experience than on an iPad due to the form-factor. It's the most natural screen-typing experience I've had so far. - manielse (Mark Nielsen)
Clive - I will talk to Steve about it. Can you send me some info thru twitter or email at [email protected] - Tina Chase Gillmor
Will your Nexus love still be in play Steve, when the iPad Mini is released? - Moe Glitz
So, Apple releases one with this form factor and...what happens? - Tom Guarriello
Like Moe asks... - Tom Guarriello
I'll still like the nexus, but an Apple one will be nice too - Kevin Marks
the iPad 3 screen is better. this beats the iPad 2 - Kevin Marks
What would be the difference, between the Nexus and an Apple mini iPad, Kevin? - Tom Guarriello
I think you get the tool to get access to the ecosystem.. that to me is more important than the device. - Michael Roberts
Greetings Ganglings - Rocky Barbanica
I tried to prep for the show today using only the ipad. but there were things to do on wordpress that i couldn't manage to do on the pad. I had to pull out the laptop - Tina Chase Gillmor
@ Robert: Give him the 7" iPad. Price point. Size. Babysitting potential. Apple made a smaller device by just dusting off the old Apple II playbook: good price point meant for a smaller hands audience. Come Christmas, what do kids ask Santa for? - Chien-Yu Lin
Well said Steve (re Laptops and iPad) - Keith Teare
Ganglings....ha, ha.... I like that, Rocky - Tina Chase Gillmor
I'd rather have a Surface and replace a tablet and laptop at same time - Stephen M
that's such bullshit. 'shrink your fingers' try using an iPhone with 1/3 the screen - Kevin Marks
wow, folks here have so many different devices. Most people I come across have a laptop or desktop, and a phone, and that's it. - Da
Steve's so cute.... I miss him - Tina Chase Gillmor
or one of the Lenovo tablets - Stephen M
we are weird Da. I have 6 in arms reach - Kevin Marks
Gillmor's Ganglings - 10,000 strong ... and growing - Rocky Barbanica
Nexus 7 is a good Netflix machine too. - Kevin Marks
Da - you are right. THis group is gadget-rich. Certainly most people dont have all these devises. But when the dust settles, we might not either. - Tina Chase Gillmor
Youtube is preferred method of "listening" to music for young people, ahead of CD or iTunes - Da
This show should be called the "first world problems" show :) - Stephen M
the screen on what? - Kevin Marks
@ Kevin - Still laughing at your comparison of the Nexus unit by the picture of Dr. Who and the Oog ... - Chien-Yu Lin
@Tina will email. THX - clive boulton
IS Scoble gonna lose it again ???? Cross your fingers !!! - Rocky Barbanica
My girlfriend's Galaxy S III is awesome - Da
Scoble just hasn't given the Nexus 7 and Android Widgets a chance to change his mind. On just one homescreen screen dashboard, I can replace his 3 Computer screens with Email, Next Appointment, Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus and Google Reader all showing. In one swipe to the next screen, I can be even more granular with widgets. - manielse (Mark Nielsen)
Watch it, Taschek - thems fightin words - Rocky Barbanica
switch Steve - Tina Chase Gillmor
@rocmanusa - that was a compliment! - John Taschek
i can't use a phone that has a screen smaller than 4.3" - Stephen M

Fair point Robert. - manielse (Mark Nielsen)
oh no.... here he goes! - Tina Chase Gillmor
Crank Scoble up! - Tom Guarriello
heheheh ! - Rocky Barbanica
he's gonna blow... he's over due - Tina Chase Gillmor
@ Taschek - Its a First Person Shooter Spreadsheet - Chien-Yu Lin
Was that a Dremel reference - Kevin Marks
what the freak was that noise? - Tina Chase Gillmor
Mind blowing spreadsheet? isnt that an oxymoron? - Stephen M
Keith is calming RObert down....sorta too bad? - Tina Chase Gillmor
not me - Kevin Marks
No offense, but Teare is always the voice of reason. - Chien-Yu Lin
creaky chair? - Tom Guarriello
BTW- Agree that Grid was pretty nice looking, Robert. - manielse (Mark Nielsen)
Leatherface is at Keith's door - Moe Glitz
RObert endorsing Ihavefiftydollars - Kevin Marks
I'm currently an iOS & iPad owner but I've recently purchased a Nexus 7 and after owning 2 previous Android phones I feel Android is finally ready for prime time. I will seriously evaluate the iPhone 5 vs. Next Google phone for the first time. Another driving factor for me is how Android is really starting to take over the TV experience. 2nd gen Google TV's like Vizio's are getting praise and there are now many sub $100 mini Android devices as well as other STB's. I've backed the Ouya and with it's gaming and XBMC / Plex I see Android gaining a foothold. Apple will need to release a new TV device to access iOS apps soon to slow this down. - Mark Krynsky
This is a good summary of developers versus popularity of Android - http://www.guardian.co.uk/technol... - John Taschek
Mark: I agree with you. For the first time I could see being an Android fanboy. That's a huge shift. - Robert Scoble
Does Microsoft have a role in the future App World - Moe Glitz
You tell 'em, Steve - - ok switch - Rocky Barbanica
If Apple succeeds as replacing the operators STB they will win. Google is taking a safer approach with Google TV being a layer on top of the operators STB's. But Android is really becoming a powerful force taking over TV's. Aero's recent court win also is great. It's becoming very interesting and hopefully things finally start to materialize. - Mark Krynsky
did anyone see that AT&T decided how they are going to handle FaceTime over Cellular? - Stephen M
Taschek, like Evernote? - Tom Guarriello
Readability - Tom Guarriello
Moe: yes. I'm trying to get to Microsoft on the show. - Robert Scoble
I currently use my Nexus 7 as an awesome universal remote for my Google TV with Ableremote. I'm also using Plex and GTVBox to stream content. Vizio's device is selling out during pre-orders and Ouya raised $9 Million. Android is kicking butt on the TV side. - Mark Krynsky
In the future is going HTML 5, so little need for apps - Da
noise has gona away. - Keith Teare
Amazon's Kindle Chrome Extension - http://www.fiercecio.com/techwat... - John Taschek
AT&T says to use FaceTime over Cellular you have to use their new Mobile Share plans.... you will only be able to use it over WiFi if you have an unlimited plan or an individual plan - Stephen M
Tom - it is like readability, which I also use. but it is distributed everywhere. - John Taschek
That's what Evernote does, too, John. - Tom Guarriello
It is also like Evernote -- except that it puts everything in a more accessible way. I use Evernote for the majority of my notes and use the Extension, etc. But the Kindle app puts it into a more readable Kindle format. - John Taschek
Gotcha. Will check that out. - Tom Guarriello
Here is a link to the Amazon extension on the Google store - https://chrome.google.com/webstor... - John Taschek
Thank you AT&T - Not :( - clive boulton
Tina - you guys can send participants CLEAR msgs independently ? - Rocky Barbanica
one thing about Microsoft is Windows hardware is more affordable for the masses. I broke the screen of my $200 XP netbook a couple of months ago, my Nexus is my mainstay now. I'm waiting for an affordable Win 8 laptop. - Da
Chrome browsing to the other device is nice too - Kevin Marks
Surface is natural HCI - touching the screen. If MSFT has software ready W8 will sell devices. - clive boulton
Lenovo has said they will price their Windows RT tablets for $300 - Stephen M
Chrome cross-device browsing is def nice - Tom Guarriello
Keith pull your mic out - Tina Chase Gillmor
we need to get Keith to invest in http://www.bluemic.com/ - Kevin Marks
Microsoft and Nokia are trying to announce their new Smartphone before Apple's iPhone5. But once iPhone5 is unveiled, the Microsoft/Nokia will be forgotten - Moe Glitz
Gotta be a skype feature, right? - Rocky Barbanica
rocky - not sure what you're talking about... CLEAR msg. tell me more - Tina Chase Gillmor
just make sure you turn off remote swipe - Da
Not via tricaster, I mean - Rocky Barbanica
spreadsheet on tablet is a poor fit right now. - Kevin Marks
wordpress on tablet is a poor fit right now too - Tina Chase Gillmor
Keith isn't it also the cloud data, the device, but also the company ecosystem? ie. the apple ios ecosystem, the airplay ecosystem. to me that also is important when thinking how these devices interact. - Michael Roberts
Heard Steve tell Kevin there was a CLEAR on screen - as in Stop Talking Now - Rocky Barbanica
maybe I misunderstood - Rocky Barbanica
Side-by-side @ io12 Fire vs Nexus 7 https://plus.google.com/u... - clive boulton
Rocky: he said "clue." Which was that he had Keith up on screen. - Robert Scoble
ahhhh - my bad - Rocky Barbanica
No not a "Clear" he said there was a "hint" meaning he put Johns face on the screen - Tina Chase Gillmor
got all excited about a feature like that - Rocky Barbanica
right "clue" not "hint" not "clear" - Tina Chase Gillmor
maybe we should talk to Newtek... or skype, Rocky - Tina Chase Gillmor
Switch please - Tina Chase Gillmor
Tina FTW - Tom Guarriello
Enterprise? Client Server 1.0 era - dumb server, smart pc. App Cloud 2.0 era - social cloud, powerful device (Client Server 0 era dumb server, dumb terminal ) - clive boulton
right. then isn't this just as important as the cloud... ie. something like an IPAD can connect to apple TV. - Michael Roberts
Michael Roberts - Yes, I agree - Keith Teare
indeed - Rocky Barbanica
our TV at home is connected to an xbox - Da
I am covering my ears so as not to hear all the cool new Tricaster features that I can't use because I DON'T HAVE IT - Tina Chase Gillmor
seems simple enough - just attach a pipe or socket to each transport - small overhead I'd bet - Rocky Barbanica
Airplay functionality is coming for Google TV :) http://gigaom.com/video... - Mark Krynsky
I'm very interest in the XBOX 360 and SmartGlass for Surface app - Stephen M
geez this is hard to sit back and not be able to make the switches.... ughhhhhh - Tina Chase Gillmor
There's also currently an Android app that mimics Airplay functionality. I'll need to try this soon. https://play.google.com/store... - Mark Krynsky
Google can potentially do this -- General Instruments was a leader in set tops, was acquired by Motorola, which became Mobility and now owned by Google. - John Taschek
Whether Google does this or not is questionable. - John Taschek
I want the opposie of that Mark, send form android to appletv - Kevin Marks
Cablevision already has DVR in the Cloud: http://www.pcmag.com/article... and it was ruled legal - Stephen M
the problem with Apple TV is you need you buy Apple TV. I just want airplay code in all TV devices. - Michael Roberts
LOL - hey - would you mind if I shadowed you guys Friday after next ? - Rocky Barbanica
My Boxee box supports Airplay. So I can send content from iPhone or iPad to it. - Mark Krynsky
Tina - Steve, that is - Rocky Barbanica
Michael: that will never happen. Apple is too controlling and TV manufacturers are too unwilling to license anything from Apple. Also, they are too clueless to implement it well. - Robert Scoble
De-carteling is in the zone of this very interesting article http://www.ribbonfarm.com/2012... - Tom Guarriello

ya - audio #FAIL - Rocky Barbanica
Just yesterday I was talking to an "average" person who said she didn't get her friend's message (it was sent by email). She told them to Facebook her next time. I asked her why. She said she gets the facebook "pushed" at her ( although she didn't use that term). She then said she just didn't have time for email when Facebooking was much easier. She is a 35 yr old student and mom - Tina Chase Gillmor
BBC Coverage of closing ceremony was on the Web (in UK) :) - Nick Halstead
I setup a proxy back to UK (as I was in SF during it) and coverage was awesome :) - Nick Halstead
I watched it via iPlayer and Tunnelbear, nick - Kevin Marks
Maybe Apple should buy the rights to the next Olympics and compete with NBC. NBC can buy access from apple to stream it. Then Apple can show how to broadcast the Olympics. - Michael Roberts
Yeah, BBC was a lot better. - Robert Scoble
Kevin, yeah - worked really well. (I have a Amazon S3 tunnel I use.) - Nick Halstead

@mark - thats what I wanted to know :) - Nick Halstead
Tina is "especially those who weren't here" today - Kevin Marks
Twitter API was about the first 20 minutes. - Chien-Yu Lin
down the tunnel - Jerome Hughes
Awesome close, Steve! heheh - good show, man ! - Rocky Barbanica
So much anger towards Twitter API and many don't feel that app.net is a solution. I'm curious to hear what those that have that sentiment propose. - Mark Krynsky
The guy who ran the BBC stream was on Frame Rate here http://twit.tv/show... - Tom Guarriello

Bye everyone.... just the best - Tina Chase Gillmor
Keith, Tunnelbear is $50/year or $5/month - Kevin Marks
Maybe Apple should buy Comcast, so Apple can have access to NBC. Hmmm.... Funny thing is, having worked for the cable companies, and as one of the guys who worked for Dynamac, the first Apple laptop, I've seen a number of Apple failures. But something about "now" feels different -- as if Comcast et al. would be willing to grant Apple MFN access to their ecosystem, enabling subscribers to get unfettered access to video and data over their tablets and other handheld devices (but NOT Apple TV). - Brian Hayashi
