Really well written. I thought this bit, "Once you throw "publishers can allow this or that" into the mix, all bets are off. I've stopped listening because you just rented me content instead of selling me content," more or less summed up how I felt about that proposal. Even if they'd had a solid answer to the questions surrounding the resale market, it was already going a direction I'd rather not go.

In general, I would say that Kaiser's "If you really want something done, you have to advocate hard for it" style of health care sucks pretty hard. The lack of returned calls. Staff giving bad information (saying they don't do a procedure when they, in fact, do a procedure)...etc. etc. Is this basically the state of healthcare today?
Arlan, Kaiser will readily refer members to other facilities for things that Kaiser does not specialize in. My stepmom got stents put in by non-Kaiser doctors and my dad's kidney transplants were done by UCSF, which has definite experts in the field. My problem isn't with the level of care that you get from Kaiser, it's that you have to deal with a cellphone provider level of customer service to get it.

If I told Victor and Andrew that I agreed with them every time I did, I'd have little time for anything else. (Quicker and easier to only tell them when I disagree) :D
Hilarious http://www.dorkly.com/article... Too bad Microsoft's marketing isn't good enough or ballsy enough to actually do something this edgy and smart.
Yep, I agree with this http://gizmodo.com/the-xbo... Microsoft tried to do something new and people got stuck in the old paradigm, complained about what Microsoft was trying to do and Microsoft has caved making the system less functional.
That's the impression that I got, but maybe they really can't do those features with the changes they're implementing. What I don't get is, why couldn't they keep the current system (which just works with physical media) and tack on digital reselling and loaning? I still wouldn't like the fact that MS and/or Publishers could have the means to control resell price or access, but them's the breaks. And that 24 hour check-in is pretty crap when the entire world, much less 100% of America, don't have decent connectivity.

The most annoying phone interview that I've had, took place just over two years ago. Interview was with a technical recruiter for some contracting position. The guy asked me specific technical questions about things that I told him I had done like 6 or 7 years ago.
Like "what's the tool that you use to promote a Windows server to become an AD server"? You want me to walk through my process of designing an entire network? Fine. I can do that. You want to know at a higher level what I did? I can talk to that. You want to know about some tweaky detail that any kid can Google in 30 seconds, but I don't need to know at the time because I did that process 7 years ago? Sorry, but we're just not going to be a good fit.

If you work on bike tires at all, particularly the newer stiffer bead tires like Continental Gatorskins, I highly recommend getting a Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack. http://www.amazon.com/Kool-St...
Makes putting on tires so easy and greatly decreases risk of you pinching the tube when you finish the tire.
BTW if you are wondering how to use the funky thing, here's a video made by a Portland bike shop http://www.youtube.com/watch...

The unemployment rate for college grads in China right now is four (FOUR!) times higher than that for Chinese who never even finished elementary school. Four times! http://www.marketplace.org/topics...
http://www.zdnet.com/anonymo... An anonymous Microsoft developer, that has supposedly done work on the core OS, explains why Windows is slower than Linux and why the gap is getting worse.

"Look at recent Microsoft releases: we don't fix old features, but accrete new ones. New features help much more at review time than improvements to old ones. (That's literally the explanation for PowerShell. Many of us wanted to improve cmd.exe, but couldn't.)""

Americans didn't get outraged when the US government spied against peace protesters, civil rights protesters, the occupy movement, etc. and now you are surprised that your government is spying on you?
The shame is on you, America, for taking this long to wake up to what's been going on in this country for over 50 years!
Sure, safeguard your privacy as best as you can, but also, continue to challenge official narratives. This whole Global War on Terror bullshit narrative has got to stop.

Microsoft lays out their privacy strategy for Xbox One...they could have done it to the tune of "Don't Worry, Be Happy" because all of the FUD has been dealt with. Kinect can be turned off, for instance. http://news.xbox.com/2013...
